MoMA Countdown

Friday, October 13th, 2006

Okay, to celebrate this magical Residents week (only six more days until the screening and my birthday!!), here are some cool “Res” updates. First off, we got written up in the Walt Street Journal Online because of our Residents video submission! The article is viewable here, but this link may expire in a week (the WSJ is for paid members, you know), so that happens I’ll provide an archived version of the article… but until then this link should suffice.

EDIT: The link has indeed become unavailable for non-subscribers. I have archived the article here for your convenience.

The second Residents themed update is this week’s antiART. Before I post it, I should probably mention where it’s sourced from. In 2004, Red Penguin and I were commissioned to do a one minute music video for The Residents for their Commercial DVD. The video, which we’ve never made available until now out of respect for the band, is called Secrets.

So if you seen the video by now, you may recognize this image of the “Spider City.” It’s the cityscape backdrop in second shot featuring the spider towards the end. I’d post the other backdrop, but Red made that one and I don’t know how he’d take to that (maybe I should ask?)

We’ve reached the end of it, but it’s only just beginning! Stay Tuned!

I’m in college, deal with it!

No Frosty Village this week… Unless I can find the time.

A Spooky Little Ditty

Friday, October 6th, 2006

I wrote this tune more than a year ago, and it’s been sitting on my hard drive collecting neat little cobwebs ever since. It was a spur-of-the-moment attempt at creating a theme song to The Super Scary Monster Show - Featuring Little Gloomy. And folks, that’s my Stereotypical for the week. I’m sorry I couldn’t offer something with a little more meat, but no time…

Oh, I forgot to mention that this song has lyrics you can sing along with! (more…)

The Beginning of the End

Here is the new F.V. It’s called ‘We Always Like a Challenge’. Sorry that it’s late, I had a lot of homework due today that I had to get done last night! Hey, at least you got a F.V. this week! I’ve been doing good about that… Hooray for me! BACK PATS ALL AROUND!

The Residents: Community Art Project

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

Surprise! Here is the bonus weekend post I promised you, and what a whopper of a post it is! Some context: in mid-August, art-rock band The Residents put out a call for artists to contribute to a “community art project.” The task was simple: take the provided audio clip and create your own video to it. Red Penguin and I weren’t alloted much time to do a video, but we worked our feathery butts off to make it happen. Here it is:

But that’s not all! Because the Residents (and Museum of Modern Art representatives) liked the video so much, it was chosen as one of six to be screened at a MoMA event on October 19th. At this Residents retrospective (which will most likely be attended by Hardy Fox and Homer Flynn of the Cryptic Corp) our movie’s going to be thrown up on a big screen in front of a packed theatre. Is that cool or what?

So if you are in the New York area, you will have a unique opportunity to meet us, the Penguin Bros – in person! In the days approaching the event I will explain how things will go down in greater detail. Until next time, WOOOO!

Blowing Up Out of Proportion

Friday, September 29th, 2006

This weekend’s antiART is known as The Fool. I’m not calling out anyone as being a fool. I’m talking about The Fool. Hopefully some of you know what I mean. It’s cool if you don’t.

Due to technical limitations I wasn’t able to impart the sheer size of the foolishness. While I’m not a huge fan of “special editions,” I’m gonna make an exception this week and make available a full resolution version of this particular antiART.

One Last Thing: Check back later this weekend for a very special post concerning an upcoming Penguin Bros appearance!

Double Scoop!

Monday, September 25th, 2006

That’s right, two crazy flavors of Penguinbros. We got, Wild-Berry-Cherry, and SUPER STRAWBERRY! Shiz! That rhymed! If you didn’t notice, those were both red, despite the fact that the Penguinbros are red and purple… That’s because I did two things for ya, and this is my post. The first is our usual weekly Frosty Village. This one is called ‘That’s Impossible!’. You’ll find out what’s impossible next week. The second flavor is a game! That’s right! A GAME! I have a bunch underway, but I crammed this one out over the last couple nights in-between my massive amounts of college homework. If you’re wondering, this game is called ‘Frosty Troopers’. Help keep the Frosty Troopers safe from that pesky cannon using a magical RC plane. It doesn’t state that the plane is RC or that it is magical in the game, just consider knowing that a bonus of reading this dang post. And so you know, a game menu is underway. Sorry that you can’t play your old favorites, for now, you’ll have to deal.

Take a bite out of crime

With my new Stereotypical song! Did I say new Stereotypical song? I mean a song I wrote back in 2004 for the currently defunct title Sam & Max: Flintlocked! The song is called Warehouse, the mood… mysterious.

The Hook Up.

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Yeah man, I got it. This stuff’s homegrown so it’ll cost ya’. Naw man, I wouldn’t cheat you, don’t worry, don– Hey man, if you don’t want it you can go to that crappy dealer down by Keenspot. Whatever, just take it… It’s called ‘Things Aren’t Heating Up!’. Heh, what’s that? Yeah man, I knew you’d dig it.

Through wind and darkness I summon thee…

antiART, show thy face! I only had time this week for one wacky composite jamboree, and it’s called Bounty. We live in a magical world, even when the weather sucks. Especially when the weather sucks.

Now I go by train to visit my bro in Igloo City. That should be fun!
