Best Fishes Little Bro!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Now let me tell you something about Red Penguin you probably already knew — he is the coolest guy around. He’s always going on adventures and making amazing stuff. For his birthday I wanted to give him something special, so I’ve written him a song about a story that’s been bouncing around Frosty Village, about a secret box, and one penguin’s dream of flight…

Happy Birthday, Red Penguin!

On the other side

Stereotypical, walking the line between what is and what is not, between the light and the darkness, creation itself and… well, it’s the Contrast that interests us. I don’t know why a “rappin” beat like this needs a preamble, but I consider myself a man of many words — I have a reputation to uphold! Anyway, enjoy this toasty jam.

It came from out a space!

Stereotypical strikes from the farthest reaches of the galaxy, thanks to a new product that everyone needs! It’s Sprocket! It’s a new mode of intergalactic transport that will drive you wild!

Tell the truth, this is a soundtrack I composed for my dear friend Zoë’s animation project. Sprocket, the eponymous product in the short does incredible, fantastic things. I would love to share this particular work with all of you but she only just finished it today and is very sleepy. Poo. Maybe later?

The State of the Penguin…

…is at rest. Red may be missing his flight home due to a vicious snowstorm (irony of ironies for us flightless birds, eh?) — meanwhile I’m living it up on Spring Break, doing the thing I know best: Lounging.

Taken from the Flintlocked project and revealed through Stereotypical. Won’t you give her a listen?

EDIT: I just heard that Red’s flight might be delayed until Sunday night O_O
I hope I’ll be seeing him sooner…

Can’t Touch This

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

My friends at school associate with a multitude of groups, some of which sub-cavort with other, tinier units. One of these associations is “The Base,” the members of which have written a little ditty which I chose to compose backing for. It didn’t really have a name until now, but since this instrumental which I present to you is a pared down composite of the “real deal,” I’ve decided to call it A Touch of B.A.S.E. Why? I guess I’m just feeling clever.

I’m an artiste.

The proof is in this week’s belated pudding: not one, but two! Well, more like one of each. Two puddings. Let me explain!!!

antiART: Out of Season.

Stereotypical: Raggedy Anne.

Actions speak louder than words.

EDIT: Well it might be informative if I said a little something about each item, so… this week’s antiART is a tree outside of my living space that seems to be trapped between Fall and Winter, in spite of the presence of snow. The Stereotypical song is a little ditty I started practically the day I arrived at school last semester; at midnight. It’s written in the spirit of some daft woman living near the docks, mourning for her lost sailor husband. Some turn-of-the-century pap. It’s a bit of a landmark because it marks the first time I’ve used real instrument – in this instance a melodica. The tune’s a bit experimental but kind of dark/fun nonetheless. How I can possibly reconcile that is a mystery even to me.

Ride out!!!

FOR GOLD AND GLORY!!! Deep in the woods of Stereotypical, a new danger lurks. Do you dare to face the cursed monsters for a chance at the gleaming prize of riches? Roll for initiative.

If pain were a tune this’d be the melody

For this week’s Stereotypical, I present another song from the Flintlocked project. Except, this song was just finished, tonight. Actually, this song (which are/will be the opening titles to the game) was started at least a year ago. That’s kind of scary. I hope that for you it is entertaining for a year - or more! Oh and here’s the link to “this song,” Opening Title.

Postscript: This song is meant to go directly into Warehouse. Neat, huh?

A Spooky Little Ditty

Friday, October 6th, 2006

I wrote this tune more than a year ago, and it’s been sitting on my hard drive collecting neat little cobwebs ever since. It was a spur-of-the-moment attempt at creating a theme song to The Super Scary Monster Show - Featuring Little Gloomy. And folks, that’s my Stereotypical for the week. I’m sorry I couldn’t offer something with a little more meat, but no time…

Oh, I forgot to mention that this song has lyrics you can sing along with! (more…)

Take a bite out of crime

With my new Stereotypical song! Did I say new Stereotypical song? I mean a song I wrote back in 2004 for the currently defunct title Sam & Max: Flintlocked! The song is called Warehouse, the mood… mysterious.
